RAYMOND J. NOONAN, Ph.D., is an assistant professor of human sexuality and health education, and former chairperson of the former Health, Physical Education, and Dance Department (now Film, Media, and Performing Arts Department) at the Fashion Institute of Technology of the State University of New York (FIT/SUNY) in Manhattan (27th Street and 7th Avenue, New York, NY 10001 USA.

Dr. Noonan has written and presented on sexuality and culture in international settings and in the environment of space, sexuality and the Internet, philosophy and sex, heterophobia and sex negativity in American culture, and sexual expression in musical lyrics, among other areas of specialization. He was coeditor of the award-winning Continuum Complete International Encyclopedia of Sexuality (2004) with Robert T. Francoeur, Ph.D., and coeditor of Does Anyone Still Remember When Sex Was Fun? Positive Sexuality in the Age of AIDS (3rd ed., 1996). He authored the chapter, “The Psychology of Sex: A Mirror from the Internet,” in Jayne Gackenbach’s groundbreaking book, Psychology and the Internet: Intrapersonal, Interpersonal, and Transpersonal Implications (2nd ed., 2007). He also produces SexQuest.com, providing educational consulting in human sexuality and educational content for the World Wide Web.
